Luz Ardiden has been around as a ski station for 35 years, and still retains its authentic charm and its appeal to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The resort is small but open, friendly and best still, cheap.
The ski area is made up of three villages, Aulian, Bederet and Cloze. Aulian is the main station so has more choice of very reasonably priced restaurants and cafes plus ski/board hire shops along with the ticket office. There is about 65km of pistes, plus a snowpark and boarder cross area, and plenty of back country; this is one to visit for a couple of days. New for 2010 is the ice rink, which is free with your lift pass and snowtubing, a cross between tobogganing and a water park. There's plenty to keep everyone happy.
