All of the Capbreton surf breaks are only a short walk away from the h2o house. These beach breaks are known as some of the best in the world and folks have many different names for the same breaks, these are the ones we use:
VVF
It is normally better on mid-high tide, and can also hold a big wave before closing out. Easy access, head for the camper van area (brown sign) , there is a car park right by the dunes. In high season you can rent boards from here. A good spot to see Slater, and others free surfing around the European leg of the world champs. Showers.
La Piste
A favourite with the surf mags for pics because of the bunkers on the beach also home break to Mikey Picon and Jeremy Flores the only two French guys currently on the world tour. She works under the same conditions as VVF, better with more water. You can park the other side of the dunes, in high season watch out for theives! No showers.
Santocha
An amazing right off the stone wall on mid tide, can become v crowded when good. Get there early if you are driving, only a limited amount of parking spaces. Good showers.
Capbreton Plage
Generally a bit smaller than the surrounding breaks and can be sheltered from northerly wind by the harbour wall. You can rent boards here and get lessons from ‘Little Hawaii’. Works on a mid tide. Showers.
