By Air


Flying is the quickest way to reach Capbreton. The nearest airport is Biarritz (BAB), only 25 minutes from the h2o house. Ryanair flies to Biarritz from London Stansted, London Luton and from Birmingham throughout the year, and from Dublin in the summer. Easyjet also operate summer flights to Biarritz from Bristol and London Gatwick. Air France operate internal flights from Paris.

You can also fly into Bordeaux from Birmingham or Manchester (BMIBaby), London Gatwick (BA), and Bristol or London Luton (Easyjet). Bordeaux is about 1 hour 30 minutes away.

Pau Pyrenees airport is also abour 1 hour 30 minutes drive away. You can fly into Pau with Ryanair from London Stansted.

You can hire cars from all airports.  Biarritz has 5 companies operating from the Arrival Hall; Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National/Citer and Sixt.  7 companies operate from Bordeaux Airport; Ada, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Citer and Sixt.  Pau Airport has over 400 vehicles to hire from 5 companies; Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and National/Citer.

By Car

If you are driving over and you need details of the many different ferry crossings, here are the companies:

Brittany Ferries, P & O Ferries, L D Lines, Norfolk Lines, Sea France, Condor Ferries and Speed Ferries.

There is also the Channel Tunnel.

Capbreton is just a few minutes drive from Junction 8 on the A63.

Public Transport

There is a very efficient bus service from Bayonne train station (Bayonne Gare) run by RDTL.  The journey will take about 25 minutes, and the service runs throughout the day and will take you to Capbreton station (Capbreton Gare) - which is the bus station or into Capbreton town (Capbreton Ville) - both stops are minutes walk from the h2o house.

You can travel from Biarritz airport to Bayonne train station on the number 6 bus with STAB, which costs under 2€, or you can take a taxi which costs from around 10€  to 15€ depending on the time of day.

A taxi from Biarritz airport to the h2o house can cost from 45€ upwards, depending on the time of day and the number of people and bags.

You can also travel by train from the UK.  Travelling from London to Bayonne by train will take you about just over 8 hours, with a change in Paris.  Depending on the time of year this can be the cheapest way to travel to this part of France.  For more information about trains look at www.raileurope.co.uk
