How long has the surfing world been waiting to see the ladies surf tour compete in some waves of consequence? Too long have they been given modest competition venues and at small swell time of year, well that seems to have all changed.

I for one think it is awesome to see the ladies given a chance to show what they can do in bigger waves and they have got exactly that in the Fiji Pro so far.

With waves of up to 15 foot faces and Cloudbreak in Fiji, one of the worlds most risky barreling lefts, as the venue who can argue that these girls are not worth watching any more?

One of the surprise stand outs for me is the rookie Johanne Defay (FRA), she has blasted her way to the Quaterfinals beating Tyler Wright and Malia Manuel, two of the event favorites, oh I do love a good upset.

It looks like they will be crowning a champion tonight, go girls, I for one will be tunning in.
